A total of 368 residences are planned for the members at the new MLA hostel
The construction of the Manora MLA hostel building at Nariman Point in Mumbai was inaugurated by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday. During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and Assembly Speaker Adv Rahul Narvekar also remained present.
The grand event saw the presence of several prominent officials, including Legislative Council Vice President Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Assembly Vice President Narahari Jirwal, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakantdada Patil, Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde, Labour Minister Dr. Suresh Khade, and Housing Minister Atul Save, an official statement said.
Spread across an area of 13429.17 sq.m., the Manora MLA hostel is set to be an architectural marvel with its modern design and facilities. The plot enjoys a Floor Space Index (FSI) of 5.4, totaling 72156.06 sq.m. The proposed construction includes two impressive towers, one 40 floors high and the other 28 floors high, designed to cater to the current needs while preserving the architectural heritage, the statement further said.
The centerpiece of this ambitious project is to provide comfortable accommodation to legislators, ensuring they have all necessary facilities within the premises. A total of 368 residences are planned for the members, each boasting an area of approximately 1000 sq. feet. This will effectively accommodate all members of the legislature under one roof, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among the elected representatives, it said.

One of the major highlights of the new MLA hostel in Mumbai is its state-of-the-art facilities. The buildings will feature a podium parking lot capable of accommodating 809 vehicles simultaneously, alleviating parking concerns for the legislators. On each floor, members will have access to well-equipped kitchens, multi-purpose halls, and auditoriums, offering ample space for meetings and gatherings, the statement said.
Additionally, the Manora MLA hostel will house guest rooms, gymnasiums, a canteen, business center, library, cultural center, and even a small theater, catering to the diverse needs and interests of the legislators. The incorporation of such amenities aims to create an environment conducive to productive discussions and interactions among the lawmakers.
The Bhoomipujan and inauguration of the project were followed by the unveiling of the cornerstone, symbolizing the commencement of the construction phase. The entire project is expected to adhere to modern architectural standards, promising an aesthetically pleasing and functional space for the legislators.
The project is expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
