In a tragic incident reported by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation at 3:00 AM today, part of the 3rd-floor slab of a five-story building collapsed in Bhandup, resulting in the loss of a five-year-old girl's life.

The victim, identified as Tasin Shaikh, was immediately rushed to SRC Hospital after the collapse. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the young girl was tragically declared dead at 05:24 AM.

The city has witnessed several similar incidents of building collapse recently.

Earlier in June, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) reported a house collapse incident at 8:36 a.m. in Ramabai Ambedkar Colony, near the Dr. Ambedkar Statue in Ghatkopar East. An update on the situation was received at 9:05 a.m. The collapsed structure was a ground-plus-one building, and a portion of the first floor collapsed onto a nearby room. Four individuals were injured and promptly taken to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment. Dr. Manish, an Assistant Medical Officer (AMO) at Rajawadi Hospital, provided the following names of the injured: Mahadev Khilare - 50 years old, male; Sunita Khilare - 42 years old, female; Rohit Khilare - 23 years old, male; Vaibhav Khilare - 20 years old, male.

In April 2023, some portions of a vacant four-storey building collapsed in south Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. According to BMC, no one was injured in the incident. Some side parts of the first floor of Chhatriwala building, Lambi Chawl, crumbled at around 10.15 pm. Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the spot and officials of the municipal corporation, BEST, and police have been mobilised, the civic body said.

In December 2022, two people were injured after a portion of a 30-year-old five-storey residential building collapsed in suburban Malad in Mumbai, civic officials said. Bedroom-side slabs of the first and second floors of the ground-plus-five Anurag CHS located in Mehta Industrial Estate area collapsed around 6 am, said an official. The building was 30 years old and had developed cracks, another official said. Four fire engines and one rescue van were rushed to the spot. The building was vacated for safety reasons after the incident. Jatin Parekh (58) and Nrupa (50) who were injured in the incident were taken to a hospital and their condition was said to be stable.
