Doses of Covaxin finally arrived in the city. The BMC was handed the first consignment on Saturday and the civic administration received 47,000 doses. The distribution will begin from Monday and five municipal vaccination centres will be offering the doses. Private hospitals will have to wait a little longer. Interestingly, even as the government had earlier mentioned that citizens will not be able to choose between the two vaccines, the BMC has said that citizens will be allowed a choice on the CoWIN portal. This, said civic officials, should be visible on the app by mid week.

For example, if choosing the BKC Jumbo Centre, the user gets to choose which unit they would like to get vaccinated at. Next to the unit, it will be specified whether Covaxin is offered or Covishield. The five centres that will offer Covaxin are Nair Hospital, Seven Hills Hospital, Mulund Jumbo Centre, Dahisar Jumbo centre and BKC Jumbo Centre. The additional municipal commissioner, confirmed the development.
