MMRDA plans to open part of elevated BKC-WEH connector next month; project estimated to be completed later this year

The elevated section of the BKC-WEH connector is 1-km long

If all goes as per plan, motorists will be able to travel between BKC and Hyatt, Santacruz in less than 10 minutes from next month as the MMRDA plans to open a part of the elevated stretch of the Bandra Kurla Complex-Western Express Highway connector.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Metropolitan Commissioner SVR Srinivas said, "Work on the BKC to WEH elevated connector is going on at a fast pace and we are hopeful of opening more than 1-km-long elevated section of the connector between Hyatt hotel, Santacruz and Raza Chowk near BKC for motorists by next month."

Work on the other part of the elevated stretch of the BKC-WEH connector is also going on and the same is expected to be completed this year.

During peak hours, CST Road, BKC Road and Kalina Road witness heavy traffic, which results in more congestion within the BKC area. The elevated road is expected to solve this problem.

The project is also known as an extension of the existing Santacruz-Chembur Link Road and the connector was planned with an intention to decongest traffic in Kurla West.

The work on the Rs 400-crore project started in the year 2017. The 3.8-km elevated road starts near Kapadia Junction, Kurla and ends at WEH near Vakola Junction.

The flyover will have four lanes, with one arm going towards Kurla and another arm towards BKC.

Rs 400cr
Cost of the project
