A flyer from Kerala has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted the cabin crew on an Air India Express flight from Kozhikode to Bahrain and tried to open the aircraft door. According to the Sahar police sources, the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, causing the flight to be diverted to Mumbai.

Police sources said Abdul Musavir Nadukandeel, 25, got startled and woke up when the flight took off. He then went to the back of the aircraft and began assaulting the cabin crew. He then attempted to open the aircraft door. A crew member managed to restrain and bring him back to his seat. Abdul then began abusing and assaulting other passengers, threatening to open the emergency door. The crew repeatedly asked him to calm down and changed his seat.

"Perceiving a security threat, the pilot landed the aircraft at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport around noon where Air India Express security officers took Abdul to the Sahar police station," said an officer. A case has been registered against Abdul under the Indian Penal Code and the Aircraft Act. He was produced in court on Sunday.

"His actions put the lives of hundreds in jeopardy. The Intelligence Bureau is looking into the matter and they will investigate why he tried to open the aircraft door. They will also check if Abdul has any connections to terrorist organisations and what other crimes he may have committed," the officer said.
