Officials from the Mumbai Fire Department said that fire tenders were quickly dispatched to the location to combat the blaze in the SRA building. Local people observed the fire and instantly raised an alert, prompting the fire department to respond quickly.

The source of the fire and the extent of the damage are still unknown. The episode highlights the significance of quick emergency responses in densely populated regions, with officials successfully preventing any injuries or fatalities during the Kandivali fire emergency.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a fire broke out in Parel's civic-run school. The blaze was reported around 9.16 am to Mumbai Fire Brigade and the officials swiftly responded to the notification.

According to the officials, no one was injured in the incident since the school was closed due to the Makar Sankranti holiday.

An official told PTI, "The blaze erupted in the five-storey Saibaba School located opposite Mint Colony Monorail Station at around 9.15 am. Four fire engines and other fire brigade vehicles immediately rushed to the school and doused the fire within 20 minutes."

The fire broke out in a store room on the ground floor where mattresses were kept; however, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the agency told media that the flames were largely confined to electric wiring and other fitments.

The PTI report quoted residents of the area claiming they heard multiple explosions of gas cylinders within the school building.

The fire brigade personnel managed to extinguish the fire by 9.30 am and a probe to determine the cause of the fire is being conducted.
