On Monday morning, a fire broke out in a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run school. According to the officials, the fire was reported at Saibaba School near Mint Colony Monorail Station in Parel. No casualties were reported the officials added.
The incident was reported around 9.16 am and the Mumbai fire brigade personnel attended to the call swiftly. The blaze erupted from a storage room in the BMC school wherein a mattress caught fire. It is yet to be ascertained as to how the mattress caught fire.
A Level 1 alert was declared at 9.20 am and the fire brigade personnel managed to put it out completely by 9.31 am. The fire was primarily confined to electric wiring, electric installations, and mattresses on the ground floor of the five-story BMC school building.
The Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO), one Senior Station Officer (Sr SO), three Station Officers (SO), four Fire Engines (FE), three Jet Tenders (JT), one Aerial Work Platform (AWTT), one Water Quick Response Vehicle (WQRV), and one Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) were among the personnel on-site.

Several organisations, including the police, BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport), 108 Ambulance services, and local ward workers, were called in to help. This multi-agency approach ensured a comprehensive and effective emergency response.
In another incident, a fire broke out in a 23-storey residential building in Kandivali, Mumbai, on Monday, originating from the duct area on the 13th floor. The incident occurred at Samarthwadi, and the Mumbai Fire Department was alerted to the situation around 04:00 am, stated a report in ANI.
According to the report, Mumbai Fire Department officials confirmed that fire tenders were swiftly deployed to the scene to tackle the blaze in the SRA building. Local residents noticed the fire and immediately raised an alarm, prompting a rapid response from the fire brigade.
As of now, there are no reported injuries or casualties resulting from the fire incident. The fire department personnel are actively engaged in dousing the flames and conducting rescue operations, the report added.
Details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of damage are still awaited.
