There has been a tremendous drop in fresh Covid-19 cases in the city. On Monday, 431 new cases were reported out of 9,052 samples tested. The testing was on the lower side owing to it being a Sunday. Still, the positivity rate dropped to 5 per cent, which is a good indication as per BMC officials. Two people lost their lives due to infection.
On Monday, out of 431 fresh cases, 54 patients needed hospitalisation and 11 of them have been put on oxygen support. The total COVID tally in the city now stands at 1,115,473.

Currently, there are 7,040 active patients in Mumbai, out of which 445 are being treated at hospitals including 49 on oxygen support. As per BMC officials, two COVID patients - a 68-year-old woman suffering other ailments, and a 71-year-old with comorbidities - succumbed to the infection.
With this, the total death count due to COVID has gone up to 19,619. In the past 24 hours, more than twice the number of fresh cases - 1,060 patients - recovered from COVID, taking the total recovery count to 1,088,814.
On Monday, the state reported 1,515 fresh COVID-19 cases after which the total count went up to 79,86,811. On the other hand, 2,062 patients recovered and the total tally went up to 78,16,933. A total of three deaths were reported in the past 24 hours in the state. Apart from two in Mumbai, one death was reported from Ratnagiri.
The total death toll has now reached 1,47,943 and the fatality rate is 1.85 per cent, as per the state health officials. Out of the 1,515 cases across the state, 810 cases were reported from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and 459 were reported from the Pune circle.
