Chetana Sharma, 14, who was beaten up by her teacher at RC Patel High School
A teacher has been accused of brutally thrashing a 14-year-old student of RC Patel High School on Saturday. The girl's parents have filed a complaint with the Borivli police, but no arrests have been made in the case.
The girl, Chetana Raju Sharma, in her statement to the police, said that on Saturday, the teacher, Namrata Ojha, who teaches Hindi and Gujarati, asked those students who had not completed their homework to stand up. Twelve students stood up, including Chetana. She said about one-and-a-half months ago, her family had relocated to another house, during which she had misplaced her notebook. She requested the teacher to give her time to complete the notebook and submit it, but the teacher, allegedly, started hitting her on her right hand with three steel rulers.
After the lecture, Chetana's class monitor applied balm on her hand, which helped her attend the next lecture, but eventually her hand swelled up. After school, when she reached home, she told her mother about the incident. Her mother took her to Shatabdi Hospital where the doctor applied a plaster on her hand. Two days later when the pain did not subside, Chetana and her mother visited the family doctor, who said Chetana had suffered some serious injuries, which would take some time to heal.
