On Wednesday, the police stated that they had arrested a music teacher of a Malad-based school on charges of molesting a 13-year-old student.
According to the police official, the 26-year-old school teacher in suburban Mumbai had also allegedly tried to chat with the Class 7 student on social media, but she resisted his move.
"The girl has accused the teacher of molesting as well as stalking her. The matter came to light after she informed about it to her parents, who then approached the Charkop police with a complaint," the police official said.
According to the police, based on the complaint, the accused, Siddharth Singh, was arrested late Tuesday night.
"The accused is booked under relevant Indian Penal Code sections including 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354-D (stalking) as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," the police official said.
"An investigation is on into the case," the police official added.
In a similar incident, three weeks ago, The police had arrested a 48-year-old drawing teacher in a school in Thane, for allegedly molesting a Class 10 student.
The accused, Yogesh Ahire, was arrested by the police three weeks ago, for the incident that occurred more than a month ago, the official told PTI.
"On August 9, when the victim went to the teachers' room in her school located in Kalwa to call the drawing teacher, the accused misbehaved with her and touched her inappropriately. He also used objectionable language," the police official told PTI.
According to the police, the accused was arrested under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 34 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
