The Bandra couple suspects someone who knows them very well is involved, as all the items stolen had their professional work stored on them

A Bandra couple was robbed of electronic goods worth approximately Rs 2,40,000 on Monday night, as they slept. What worries them even more, is that the thief stole only the electronic goods that had some of their professional work stored on them.

Two laptops, one tablet, a cell phone and an iPod were stolen from the house. The Khar police have registered a case. Shabnam Sirur is a former creative director from an ad agency, on a break, while her husband, Uttam, is a screenplay writer and a copy consultant for a pharmaceutical company.

The couple stays at Mount Pali Apt at Palimala Road, Bandra West. Speaking to mid-day, Shabnam said, "On January 19 the incident took place early in the morning. I am usually at home as I have taken a break from work while my husband comes from work late in the night.

Our daughters are out of station." "We were both fast asleep when I heard a weird noise and woke up. I saw two hands near a table next to my bed. I thought it was my husband, but realised he was sleeping. I was shocked. I screamed and the thief ran out of the main door. My husband and I then saw lights in the hall.

The flat's main door was wide open; he escaped by running down three floors," she added. She suspects someone who knows them very well must be involved as the thief specifically took only electronic equipment which had their work stored.

The thief was about to take a camera which Shabnam had kept near the table next to her bed when she saw him. Shabnam said, "This is very serious. How can a person come into our house and do all this? He could have even attacked us.

I am afraid now. I have not slept properly for the past two days after the incident. The police should nab the accused and increase patrolling in the area."

Police speak
Senior police inspector Dattatray Bargude of Khar police station said, "We have registered a case in the matter. Two laptops, one tablet, cellphone and an iPod were stolen. We are investigating the matter and hopefully will solve the case soon."
