Not every one is second-time lucky. The Iranian national, who was nabbed red-handed while attempting to rob a businessman twice over in Mumbai is a case in point.

On Friday, the accused, identified as Rahim Ohmed Ali Gharenepur, 40, entered businessman Parvez Kunda's garment store, Kids Kingdom, at Pydhonie. The owner of several garment stores in South Mumbai, immediately recognised Gharenepur from the CCTV footage of the first robbery when Gharenepur had stolen R25,000 cash from his other shop, Kidzzle, Claire Road, Byculla.
The first robbery
On October 3, Gharenepur entered Kunda's garment shop Kidzzle in Byculla and on the pretext of making a payment, skillfully swindled R25,000 from the cash counter. Later in the night, while calculating the day's business, they found the cash missing. They checked the CCTV footage and realised how the robbery had taken place.
Kunda said, "When I went to the Nagpada police station, PSI Devram Burde refused to lodge an FIR. They registered my complaint only after seven days. I am shocked at the behaviour of the cops," said Kunda.
Nabbed at least
Not one to bear a loss the second time, Kunda, who owns several kids' garment stores, alerted his workers when he recognised Gharenepur from the earlier robbery. He smartly occupied the accused and informed the cops, who arrested him. Gharenepur even offered to pay Kunda Rs 3 lakh in a bid to let him go. "I spotted Gharenepur and informed the workers to hold his attention for a while longer. Meanwhile, I sent one of my workers to Pydhonie police station to inform the cops," said Kunda, who refused to take the bribe.
A police official said, "Gharenepur resides in Goregaon. He is involved in several such cases. He was produced in court yesterday and has been remanded to three days police custody."
