While parents of the 15-year-old didn’t lodge a complaint when the incident occurred in December last year, a hospital alerted the cops when she was confirmed pregnant
Yesterday the Sahar police nabbed a 30-year-old man, who allegedly raped his 15-year-old sister-in-law in December last year.
While the parents of the survivor had refrained from lodging a police complaint when the incident occurred, as the accused was married to their elder daughter, the case came to light when the victim was admitted to Cooper Hospital at Juhu when she complained of severe stomach pain early this month.

Doctors confirmed that the patient was over two months pregnant and alerted the police as she was a minor.
The Sahar police officials then confronted the survivor's parents who confirmed that their younger daughter had been raped by their son-in-law last year.
The incident
According to police officials, the accused raped the survivor in December last year when she was filling water at home in Sahar, Andheri West.
"Alert neighbours responded to her screams but couldn't open the locked door. Soon after the incident, the survivor's parents reached the spot. The accused opened the door and they found the girl, whose private parts were bleeding, crying profusely. They beat the accused who fled from the spot," said the senior police inspector, on condition of anonymity.
"We registered a rape case after the doctors at Cooper Hospital informed us that the survivor, who is a minor, was pregnant. On a tip-off by a family member, we arrested the accused who was hiding with his family, including the survivor's elder sister, in Darbhanga, Bihar," he added. The accused was booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
