The Bhoiwada police officials are on the lookout for a woman, aged between 35-40, who has allegedly robbed 10 jewellery shops over the last one year. According to cops, the latest incident took place last Sunday at Pendurkar Jewellers in Parel TT, which is located in the jurisdiction of Bhoiwada police station. The unidentified woman entered the shop on the pretext of buying ornaments for her daughter and fled with a pair of earrings worth Rs 2 lakh.

Senior police inspector Sunil Tondwalkar from Bhoiwada police station said, "The incident took place between 12-1 pm, when there are, usually, few customers. The accused entered the shop and asked the owner to show her some diamond ornaments. She allegedly told him that she needed to buy jewellery for her daughter, as she was getting married." After looking at various pieces, she went out of the store claiming that she was trying to call her daughter. He added, "After flitting in and out of the shop at least thrice, she came in and pointed towards a pair of earrings she wanted to see. As the shop owner turned to fetch the piece, she managed to hide a pair that was worth Rs 2 lakh."
Later she went out of the shop claiming that she is going to fetch her daughter, but didn't return. After 20 minutes, when the shop owner was keeping back the jewellery at the counter, he realised a pair of earrings had gone missing. The cops have managed to get the CCTV footage of the accused and have ascertained that she has committed a series of robberies at several shops. She has been booked under Section 380 (theft in dwelling house) of the Indian Penal Code.
