98-year-old Rama Raut got vaccinated on Friday at the BKC centre
The number of people getting vaccines is increasing day by day. On Friday, 30,000 people received the jabs - a number more than 150 per cent of the combined capacity of vaccination centres across the city. Out of these, 20,000 were senior citizens and 2,000 were those with comorbidities aged between 45 and 59 years.
"The BMC, along with 28 vaccination centres at private hospitals, inoculated 29,487 people against COVID-19 - the maximum so far, according to data till 6 pm," said a BMC official.
Rama Raut, a 98-year-old resident of Shivaji Park, got her vaccination at the BKC COVID Center on Friday. She had no qualms about the vaccine and had a message for all senior citizens - "Let me tell you, there is nothing to fear. Go out there and get vaccinated because you are only protecting yourself," said Raut, who is the mother of three doctors, Pratap, Vishwas and Padmini Desai. Raut said the facilities at BKC Jumbo COVID Centre were top-class. Pratap said he is proud of the way his mother handled things.
