Mumbai Covid-19 cases dip below 200, TPR 0.47 per cent

The city saw 187 new Covid-19 patients on Sunday after 40,031 tests, with test positivity rate of 0.47 per cent. There were two deaths reported in Mumbai, however, MMR, excluding the city, registered zero deaths. The state registered 704 new cases and 16 deaths.

The BMC started extensive testing amid the fear of the new variant omicron. On Saturday, the city had seen a jump in daily cases at 256 with a marginal rise in the TPR (0.57 per cent). The city's lowest TPR of the second wave was recorded on December 1 at 0.28 per cent..

The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 219 people recovered and were discharged on Sunday. There are 1,774 active cases in the city. Both the deceased had comorbidities and were above 60 years of age.

As per the state health department report, 704 cases were reported with 16 deaths across the state. The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 699 recovered and got discharged on Sunday. Currently the state has 6,441 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal dip in new cases. As per the state report, 335 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.

Apart from Mumbai, Thane city reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 37 new cases. It was followed by Navi Mumbai which reported 29 cases.

While Kalyan-Dombivli saw 12 cases, Vasai-Virar reported 18 cases. Raigad saw 13 cases and Panvel saw 15 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered zero deaths.
