Before the elections face-off begins, corporators will finally meet each other physically, following the state government's nod to start physical meetings instead of online ones.

The general body meeting of the corporation, which was online for the last one-and-a-half years, is likely to be held physically from next Monday. However, considering the large number of corporators in the civic body, the present historic hall is insufficient to seat everyone keeping in mind Covid protocol. Sources said the Mayor has directed the municipal commissioner to grant permission to use a hall where the general body meetings can be conducted and now the scramble to arrange for a new place has started.

The administration and the Mayor's office are considering three options - in Borivli, Vile Parle and Mulund. However, if there is no confirmation over alternative arrangements, sources said the meeting on Monday may take place in the same congested hall. In the 19 months, corporators could not raise issues concerning their wards. Also, as there is a limit to asking questions in virtual meetings, corporators are also waiting for actual meetings to take place.
