Mumbai: Cops track auto via CCTV, recover valuables worth Rs 75,000 left by woman

Within few hours, Amboli Police recovered a gold bangle worth Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 cash left by a woman in an auto rickshaw recently.

Police tracked the auto driver via CCTV and called him to the station to return the valuables.

On February 25, Ayesha Khan (25) lost the valuables - gold bangle worth Rs 50,000, cash Rs 25,000 and identity cards - while she took a rickshaw to go to her relatives' home at Hill Rock Society in Jogeshwari (West) around 5 pm, stated a report in The Times of India.

"When she reached her destination, Khan paid the driver and was heading towards her relatives' house when she realized she had forgotten the valuables in the auto," said Someshwar kamte, senior inspector, Amboli Police.

Khan then approached police and lodged a complaint.

"Immediately on receiving the complaint, constable Kedekar from the detection team first managed to get hold of the auto's number through the CCTV from the locality. He then got the driver's details from the regional transport office (RTO) and tracked him," said police.

Kamte said they then handed over the gold bangle, cash and other important documents to Khan.
