A 32-year-old woman, who was trying to jump off the terrace of a building in Malad (west), was saved by a constable on Saturday.
The incident occurred at Dipak Apartment near Chincholi park in Malad (West) on Saturday afternoon. The woman is a resident of Worli and her husband works as an engineer at a private firm. They had come to the house of the woman's mother in Malad. The couple used to have frequent fights and on Saturday, after an altercation, she consumed alcohol and tried to jump off the terrace.
"I received a call about a woman trying to commit suicide by jumping off the terrace. I rushed at the spot. The women's husband was also on the terrace and was trying to save her," said constable Shrikant Deshpande from Malad police station.

"I asked the husband to divert her mind by conversing with her. I grabbed her before she could jump," he added.
Speaking with Mid-Day senior inspector Dhananjay Lingade, Malad police station, said, "The woman was drunk and tried to jump off the building in Malad. After receiving a call on 100 number, we alerted the fire bridge. Our constable Shrikant Deshpande rushed to the spot and saved woman. We recorded statements of both husband and wife and released them after warning."
