Mumbai constable owns assets over 1,500 per cent of his income

The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Mumbai, has booked a police constable and his wife for acquiring assets 1,500 per cent disproportionate to their income. The probe revealed that the couple owned assets worth Rs 12.65 crore. Both have been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

According to officers, a complaint was registered against Suresh Bamne and his wife Lata Suresh Bamne three years ago, alleging corruption. The complaint mentioned siphoning off huge sums of money from a housing project and acquiring assets like flats and land. As soon as the complaint was registered, Bamne, who was posted with the Anti-Terrorist Squad at the time, was transferred to the Local Arms Division, Naigaon.
