On Monday, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde visited civic-run KEM Hospital for a "surprise" check at around 9 pm.
Police were deployed at the hospital prior to his visit, vehicles were barred from parking close to the gates for security reasons. Meanwhile, families of patients, who are seen resting in the corridors of the hospitals were asked to clear them.
"I arrived today itself. Our patient has been admitted. We were told to sit outside," said Manoj, a resident of Antop Hill.
The CM first visited the dean office and is expected to do a round of the hospital.

CM Shinde's visit to civic-run hospital comes after 18 deaths were reported in 18 hours at Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, Thane, on August 13. The hospital staff at Kalwa, is under investigation for medical negligence.
