A cab driver held for sexual assault, in an attempt to escape from custody, jumped from the second-floor corridor of Borivli court recently.

Accused Dharmendra Dubey, 38, suffered a fracture in his leg and is undergoing treatment. He will be produced before the court after completing five days of custody on March 25. A fresh case has been filed against him for attempt to escape from custody, stated a report in The Times of India.

Dubey, a resident of Malad, was arrested on Friday after a woman filed a rape complaint against him.

On Saturday, he was produced before the magistrate and remanded to police custody on charges of raping the woman over three years, said a police official. His handcuffs had been removed as he was inside the court, said police. Later, while being escorted out of the courtroom he jumped off the second floor. "Dubey managed to break free and jump off the second floor of the court. He has suffered a fracture in his leg," said Borivli senior inspector Sudhir Kalekar.
