The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday issued an order stating that schools in Mumbai will remain closed until further notice.
The order came amid confusion over the reopening of schools from Monday, especially after reports of such a recommendation pending for approval of the civic body.
However, schools affiliated to all the other boards are allowed to conduct board exams as per the pre-declared schedule. This was as per an order issued earlier this week granting special permission to schools in the city to conduct board examinations as per the traditional pen-paper method.
"All schools, irrespective of managements, mediums, and boards within BMC jurisdiction will remain closed for students from January 16, until further notice," read the order issued by BMC education officer Mahesh Palkar.
The earlier notice stated that schools will remain closed till January 15.
