An investigation stemming from a threat call to the State Director General of Police's main control room has unraveled a complex love affair, introducing an intriguing twist to the case. The anonymous caller, reportedly traveling to Gujarat, tipped off authorities about a potential untoward incident near Uddhav Thackeray's Matoshree Bungalow and gave the wrong number. The police questioned the person whose number was provided who turned out to be innocent and suspected that the person who gave the wrong number could be the one who's proposal was rejected by the victim's girlfriend.

On January 15, the mysterious caller contacted the DGP office at Colaba, claiming to have overheard a conversation among three to four individuals while on a train to Gujarat. According to the caller, these individuals hinted at a significant untoward event unfolding outside Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray's residence in Bandra East. Acting on what he perceived as a civic duty, the anonymous informant promptly alerted the DGP control room, triggering immediate action by the Mumbai police. "The number provided by the caller was not his but someone else's which he gave to take revenge due to a love triangle," said an officer

What adds a layer of complexity to this unfolding saga is the outdated state of the DGP control room, lacking caller ID functionality for incoming calls. Undeterred by this limitation, the police, in an attempt to gather information, requested the caller's contact number.

As investigators delved into Call Detail Reports (CDR) and cellular location data, the initial suspect - the owner of the recorded mobile number - was found innocent. Further scrutiny revealed that the caller may have strategically chosen the rival's number as an act of revenge in a love triangle. The caller who had proposed to the victims girlfriend, might have had his number disclosed after his proposal was rejected.
