Mumbai witnessed sudden rains/ Ashish Rane
Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) faced a significant disruption today as both runways faced closure due to a sudden spell of rain. The unexpected downpour led to Mumbai airport's runway closure, paralysed air travel, inconvenienced passengers and disrupted schedules across the board.
"The sudden closure of the runways, a rare occurrence even during the monsoon season, caught all of us off guard. The heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds, rendered the runways unsuitable for landing and takeoff, posing potential safety risks for aircraft." said sources from DGCA.

"Passengers arriving at the airport were greeted with scenes of chaos and confusion as flights were grounded and departure boards displayed a cascade of cancellations and delays. Many travellers found themselves stranded, unsure of when they would be able to reach their destinations." said a stranded passenger.
Airport authorities swiftly mobilized resources to manage the situation, but the sheer intensity of the rainfall hampered their efforts. The Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) is yet to release an official statement on the matter but sources from the airport have confirmed that the runway was closed due to the rains.
