Mumbai airport suspends operations for half hour due to rain

`Due to low visibility, flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were suspended between 16:04-16:32 hrs today as a precaution. Due to heavy rain, leading to low visibility in Mumbai, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) suspended operations for half an hour on Thursday as a precautionary measure, as per a press release by CSMIA.

The operations were halted from 4.04 to 4.32 pm. They have resumed now.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday officially declared the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon - two days before its due date of June 11 - over Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, and along with it, issued a Red Alert for the city of Mumbai, followed by an Orange Alert for the next four days.
