Mumbai: Ahead of Diwali, FDA seizes 400 kg adulterated ghee worth Rs 3 lakh in Masjid Bandar

According to the FDA officials, ahead of the Diwali festival, the Mumbai region of the FDA has been vigilant about the food quality used and sold in the market and has taken action against manufacturers for violating the quality under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006

Maharashtra's Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials seized adulterated ghee which was being sold in substandard quality from a godown at Masjid Bandar. The stock worth Rs three lakh was seized during a raid at the godown in the Chinchbandar area, Masjid Bandar.

According to the FDA officials, ahead of the Diwali festival, the Mumbai region of the FDA has been vigilant about the food quality used and sold in the market and has taken action against manufacturers for violating the quality under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

On October 18, according to the information received by the vigilance department of the administration in Mumbai, a raid was conducted in Masjid Bandar.

Three food samples of ghee from the food establishment named - Rishabh Shuddha Ghee Bhandar godown, Chinchbandar were taken for analysis and the remaining stock of 400 kg worth Rs 2,99,090 was seized.

"The said food samples have been sent for analysis, and further necessary action will be taken according to the analysis report. In order to provide safe, healthy and wholesome food to consumers during the festivals, the administration has undertaken a special campaign to inspect food establishments and take food samples for inspection," said Joint Commissioner of Administration (Food), Shashikant Kekare.

The FDA official added that strict action will be taken against those who ignore the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
