With the distribution of Covaxin starting from Monday at five of the municipal vaccination centres, about 920 of its doses were utilised on Day 1 itself out of the 47,000 doses that the civic body had received.

Civic officials said that it was a good response and mainly walk-in beneficiaries were given these doses. So far, a total of 6,47,684 beneficiaries have been inoculated in the city so far and to facilitate more numbers, the BMC is planning to activate more hospitals as vaccination centres.

The civic officials said that by the mid-week the portal will highlight which of the two units will be giving Covaxin making it possible for the citizens to choose from it.

For example, if one is choosing a centre as BKC Jumbo centre then they get to choose from the unit which is available and next to the units there will be a highlight that whether Covaxin is offered or Covishield.
