Akshay Kamble
It is now 75 days since Badlapur's Akshay Kamble disappeared from the IIT campus in Kanpur, and with every passing day, his father Bhimrao's faith in the local police is fading. With neither the police nor government officials offering any answers or support, Bhimrao now wants the court to monitor the investigation and search for his son.
Flashback
Akshay disappeared on November 29, 2017, after he boarded an auto at the IIT Kanpur campus. He had called and told his parents that he was taking a train home to Mumbai, but he never made it. The auto driver said he dropped Akshay to Kanpur station, but didn't know where the youth went after that. Akshay withdrew R10,000 but abandoned his ATM card and laptop in his room. His SIM card was found with the hostel sweeper.
The police questioned hundreds of hotels and shopkeepers, but haven't found any clues yet. The Superintendent of Police (Kanpur Nagar) also ordered re-investigation of the case after Kalyanpur cops failed to get any leads. Now, after spending 75 days in Kanpur, Bhimrao has decided take the matter to court. "It has been 75 days since Bhimrao Kamble has been fighting the lonely battle for his son. Bhimrao met the Governor of Uttar Pradesh twice, and demanded a deep probe into his son's disappearance, but these efforts haven't borne fruit. Therefore, we are thinking of going to court, as that is the only place we think we will get justice," said Advocate Mahendra Pandagle, who is representing Bhimrao.

Meanwhile, when asked about developments in the case, Deven Singh, the in-charge at Kalyanpur police station, said, "We had tried and are still trying our best to trace Akshay. We checked all the major railway stations till Kolkata and Trichy, as only two trains were scheduled to these destinations at the time Akshay reached the Kanpur station. We spoke to his friends and checked his phone records, but still haven't come across any clue till now."
