At least seven people, including two minors, were killed while another 51 were injured after a massive fire razed through a seven-storey residential building in Goregaon on Friday. The fire was extinguished at 6.54 am this morning.
The incident was reported at 3.05 am on Friday at the Jay Bhavani building near Azad Maidan in Goregaon West.
The injured were rushed to two hospitals, HBT Hospital and Cooper Hospital, in Mumbai.
The seven people killed in the level two fire included a male, five females and two minors, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

Man dead, another injured after fire in Goregaon
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) rushed to the spot with eight fire engines, five jumbo tankers, a water tank, a turntable ladder (TTL) and a quick-reaction vehicle for rescue operations.
As per the fire department, the fire was confined to ground-floor shops. Scrap materials, two parked vehicles, four vehicles, metre cabin and a ground plus upper floored structure were gutted in the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he was pained to know about the loss of lives in the incident. "Pained to know about loss of lives in the fire incident at #Goregaon, Mumbai. We are in touch with BMC & Mumbai Police officials & all the assistance is being provided. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing speedy recovery to the injured⦠(SIC)," he posted on X.
In an afternoon update, the civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation revealed details of injured admitted in various hospitals of Mumbai.
HBT Hospital reported a total of 42 injured persons, of which six died including 1 male and 5 females. 31 people with injuries, 14 males and 17 females, and 5 persons who left against medical advice, 3 males and 2 females.
Cooper Hospital has recorded a total of 15 injured patients, which includes 1 death (female), 10 persons with injuries, 6 males and 9 females, and 4 people who left against medical advice, 2 males and 2 females.
Among private hospitals, Life Line Medical Hospital reported 1 injured male. Matoshree Gomati Hospital in Goregaon reported a total of 9 injured persons, comprising 6 males and 3 females, all with injuries. Suvidha Hospital in Goregaon reported 1 injured female.
