A 29-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit outside Panvel railway station on Thursday night.

The woman succumbed due to excessive bleeding outside the station while nobody came forward to help her. A case of murder has been registered against an unknown person.

The victim has been identified as Priyanka Rawat, who lived in Mahalaxmi city in Panvel taluka. On Thursday night, when Priyanka, an employee of a private marketing company, walked out of the railway station an unidentified person ran towards her and slit her throat.

According to police, the woman succumbed due to excessive bleeding after the attack. Cops rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. Subhash Kokate, senior inspector of Khandeshwar police station said, "we have registered an FIR against an unknown person. We are checking CCTV footage and questioning auto drivers to get more information about the attacker."
