A 25-year-old unmarried woman, who was in the sixth month of her pregnancy, had decided to abort her baby by consuming pills and then tried to flush it down the toilet
The discarded remains of a six-month-old foetus were recovered from the drainage pipe of Samrudhhi building in Borivli (West). A 25-year-old woman, Nanda Gore, accused of flushing the foetus down the toilet, has been arrested.
The incident came to light when the accused's family complained to the secretary of their housing society regarding a blocked drainage pipe in their home. Soon, the secretary received several other complaints regarding a possible blockage and approached a plumber to fix it.
The plumber checked the drainpipe, and found the baby's hand sticking out when he opened it on one of the floors. According to the police, Gore had consumed abortion pills to terminate her pregnancy. On account of the medicine, she had an abortion on Friday night.
