According to her husband, she had been suffering from tuberculosis for the past two years with no recovery since last year, leading to depression; the cops found no suicide note
A 40-year-old TB patient was found dead in Kandivli (East) after she jumped off the 13th floor of her residential building on Sunday morning. The deceased had been suffering from tuberculosis for the past two years, but finally succumbed to depression and ended her life, said her family and the police.
She is survived by her husband and two children a 14-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter, who were all sleeping when she jumped at 5.45 am yesterday. The deceased, identified as Kausalya Vijay Deshmukh, was a resident of Sagar residential society in Hanuman Nagar. The Samta Nagar police did not find a suicide note.
At the police station, her husband, Vijay, gave his statement saying his wife had been suffering from TB since the past two years, and that it was too painful for her. While she was being treated at a private hospital, there had been no recovery in the past year, and due to complications, she was no longer able to hear either.
All these reasons led to depression, her husband added. The Samta Nagar police registered an accidental death report and are conducting further inquiry in the matter.
