28-year-old, who has registered a case against Yash Pandit for raping her under the pretext of marriage, says the police have gone easy on him because of his family's influence; cops deny this

Yash Pandit has acted in several TV shows and movies

Television actor Yash Pandit has been booked for allegedly raping an actress on the pretext of marriage. Pandit allegedly raped the 28-year-old actress several times at his Juhu residence. The actress, meanwhile, claims that the police are not doing enough to nab him because of "his family's influential connections".

Yash Pandit has acted in several TV shows and movies.

As per the First Information Report (FIR), the survivor met Pandit on September 13 on the sets of a television show. On October 7, he invited her to his apartment. But before that, he allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him in his car. On October 29 and November 14, Pandit took her to his apartment on the pretext of introducing her to his parents. Upon reaching the apartment, the survivor says Pandit applied sindoor to the survivor's forehead, telling her that thereafter the two were husband and wife. They had sex twice after this.

The very next day, Yash started distancing himself from the survivor. He kept ignoring her calls and messages. After all this happened, she met Pandit and he told her that they could still remain good friends and have a physical relationship, but marriage was off the cards.

Speaking to mid-day, the survivor said, "He only had intentions of developing a physical relationship with me. He confessed to me that he had sexual relationships with other girls. They perhaps did not approach the cops, because they were scared of being defamed. But, I wanted to teach him a lesson to get his nefarious intentions out in public view."

According to the survivor, the police should have added sections 420 (cheating) and 377 (unnatural Sex) of the IPC, which would have made the case watertight. "But, it seems as if the police are succumbing to certain pressures. Perhaps that is the reason they have not managed to trace him yet," she said, adding, "Post the FIR, I have complained to the DCP in Zone IX, about the leniency shown towards Yash because of his family's influential connections.

Whenever I get a tip about Yash hiding at his apartment, I have to plead with cops to send a detection team to raid his home, but a mysterious call alerts him, and he is never there." Senior Police Inspector Sunil Ghosalkar of Juhu Police station said, "We have taken the victim's statements and registered an FIR against Yash Pandit and have already set up teams who have been raiding the places where we suspect him to have been hiding." When asked about the discrepancies in the FIR, Ghosalkar said, "I have already issued a memo to the investigating officer, and have replaced her. The newly-appointed officer in the case is already studying it and will be adding the sections wherever they are required."
