BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha visits MSRTC workers at Azad Maidan on Friday
The MSRTC terminated services of 238 daily wage workers and suspended 297 staffers on Friday amid the ongoing strike. Meanwhile, state transport minister Anil Parab said they were studying patterns of other public transport undertakings across the country to find out what can be done to improve the situation.
In the first phase of action, the state transport body sent notices to 2,296 daily wage workers and subsequently terminated services of 238 of them. Of the total of 2,584 daily wage workers, only 32 resumed duty.
Parab on Friday appealed to the protesters to join work, saying he was also worried about commuters. "All public transport undertakings have been suffering and we are studying how other undertakings across the country are handling the finances. We will come up with a solution soon," he said.
