A day after mid-day's report on former Maharashtra DGP and Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey asking Amravati police commissioner Arti Singh to stop investigation into the Anugrah Ponzi scheme, Amravati MP Navneet Rana has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking strong action against Pandey, as well as Singh.

On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday registered a case of money laundering against Pandey, his company and former CEOs of NSE - Chitra Ramkrishna and Ravi Narain. ED has also issued summons to Pandey in the snooping case and asked him to be present before the agency in Delhi on Friday.

In a letter dated July 13, Rana alleged that despite a complaint against Anugrah Stock and Broking Pvt Ltd, National Stock Exchange of India Limited and Edelweiss Custodial Services Ltd, CP Singh stopped the investigation on the instructions of the then DGP Pandey. "There should be a CBI probe against both officers," Rana's letter read. Rana has also levelled allegations of corruption against Singh.

Rana also alleged that multiple FIRs were filed in connection with the Anugrah Ponzi scheme and several accused were arrested, but there has been no action for the past few months. "Now we got to know that the investigation was stopped by Pandey," she added.

mid-day has earlier reported that the DGP office may review Pandey's order to look for possible conflict of interest as his company iSEC Services Ltd, where he was a director till 2006 and now his family members are directors, is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation and ED in the NSE Co-Location scam.

Pandey during his 10-month tenure as DGP Maharashtra , had written to Amravati commissioner to not investigate Anugrah and others. Sources told mid-day that Pandey wrote the letter after he was given a presentation by NSE officials that there was a similar case filed with the Mumbai police's Economic Offences Wing and that they were cooperating in the probe.

Pandey is also facing another case for alleged tapping of NSE employees' phones between 2009 and 2017 and providing transcripts to the accused in the co-location scam. The CBI booked Pandey in the case last week.
