The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik in a connection with the money laundering case registered against Dawood Ibrahim and his D -Company. This development comes after, the state government of Maharashtra had registered cases of forgery and cheating against former NCB Zonal director Sameer Wankhede.

Earlier in the day, Malik was taken to the ED office and was questioned for more than 8 hours about certain properties which he bought from people having D company link. The agency was scrutinising the documents and have recorded the statement of dozens of people linked to this case. Earlier, ED took custody of Dawood's brother Iqbal Kaskar.

The Mumbai Police has deployed massive security outside the ED office as NCP workers are expected to gather at the place. Malik has been on the forefront against Wankhede after the arrest of his son in law and more specifically after the Cordelia cruise case in which Shah Rukh Khan;'s son Aryan Khan was arrested. Malik held multiple press conferences and levelled allegations against BJP leaders which included former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadanvis.

Malik has denied having any links with the D company. However, ED officials confirmed that Malik has bought the property from people having links with the D company. Malik has been taken for medical examination and will be produced before special PMLA court.
