To bolster the development of the Mumbai Metro infrastructure, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has taken a proactive stride and appointed Team Leaders for each ongoing and upcoming Mumbai metro projects. The initiative was implemented by MMRDA chief Dr Sanjay Mukherjee with an aim to expedite the execution of new metro lines and the forthcoming Metro Bhavan.
The development agency, in a media statement on Saturday, stated that the appointed Team Leaders will ensure that these projects are expedited without compromising on the quality standards.
The appointed leaders will oversee a cohort of professionals, potentially assuming key roles such as Director, Chief Engineer, or Additional Chief Engineer. The experts - using their domain knowledge and experience - will drive the planning and execution, the agency said.
As part of their responsibilities, the designated Team Leaders will be tackling intricate challenges, oversee real-time project progress, and proactively mitigate deviations that might arise during the execution phase. This approach is set to streamline project delivery and ensure adherence to timelines.
Dr. Mukherjee, the Metropolitan Commissioner of the MMRDA, said, "This visionary project holds the potential to provide the Mumbai Metropolitan Region with a much-needed lifeline. The rapid and punctual construction of metro lines is pivotal for Mumbai's continued economic growth. The positive trajectory we're on fills us with pride. The time savings generated by this initiative will grant individuals more quality time with their families and less time ensnared in traffic. Our future plans envision expansive urban growth on an even larger scale."
What are these projects?

' Line 2B: DN Nagar - Mandale
' Line 3: Colaba - Bandra - SEEPZ
' Line 4: Wadala-Kasarvadavli
' Line 5: Thane - Kalyan
' Line 6: Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (East Express Highway)
