The Yellow Gate police have filed an accidental death report following the discovery of a deceased 20-year-old man near a rooftop bar in south Mumbai. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report of the man, identified as Hamza Khan, to determine the exact cause of death.

According to the police, the incident came to attention on June 17 in the early hours, after Khan reportedly departed his Lokhandwala residence and reserved a spot at the rooftop bar online.

"He was alone in the bar and was partying. At around 1 am he felt uneasy and walked out of the bar before he collapsed," said Sanjay Latkar, DCP, Port Zone.

According to the police, Khan is an engineering student and was discovered in an unconscious state by a passer-by on the street outside the bar.

"He was taken to Masina Hospital and the doctors had declared him dead on arrival. We have informed his family members who are currently abroad and are now on their way back home," said a police officer.

The ADR was filed by the police at around 5.45 am and the body was sent to JJ hospital for post-mortem analysis. "The body has been sent to JJ hospital to ascertain the cause of death. Prima facie the CCTV footage makes it clear that he was alone in the bar. However, we are still investigating further," added the DCP.

"The JJ hospital has reserved the cause of death of the victim, however, redness was spotted on his lungs. He might have had a lung infection," said Yellow Gate Senior Police Inspector, Arun Pokharkar.
