A 28-year-old man fell from a local train after hitting a tunnel wall between Mumbra and Kalwa on the central suburban line. The incident took place around 9 am on Tuesday.
The man, identified as Sohal Yasin Siddiki, had boarded an overcrowded train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) that was bound for Mumbra.
According to the railway police, as the train was approaching the tunnel, he fell from the moving train and hit the tunnel wall. With the help of commuters and on duty constable of Mumbra railway, he was rushed to Thane civic hospital.
He suffered severe head injuries and was bleeding profusely. Saud Uman Mukri, who brought the victim in his private ambulance said, "I received a call from Mumbra railway police about a man who fell from the train, and brought him to the hospital."
His elder brother was informed about the incident. He said, "My brother was on his way to a job in Chinchpokli. He stays with our father and me.
The doctors have told us that his condition is critical and have recommended that he should be moved to Sion hospital for treatment."
