Major fire breaks out at a mall in Thane

A major fire broke out at Cine Wonder Mall and Orion Business Park located at Kapurbawdi junction near Ghodbunder Road in Thane on Tuesday evening. The incident led to a traffic snarl at the junction.

The fire broke out at Cine Wonder Mall, which is in Orion Business Park. The Balkum fire brigade received the information about the fire at 8.38 pm on Tuesday.

A traffic cop said, "To avoid this route for some time as people are parking their vehicles on roads and taking videos and photos which leads traffic on the road. The traffic police team is on the spot to ease the traffic at this junction."

The fire brigade, rescue team, water tankers, jumbo water tankers, police, and fire officers rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire. The fire was not extinguished till late at night.

Speaking with Mid-Day, DCP Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod said, "There are no casualties, and injuries have been reported so far. The fire team is trying to extinguish the fire. Traffic is not affected due to fire."

However, a local resident said, "The traffic is largely affected because many people are taking videos and photos. Many people are stuck at the junction for at least 30 minutes in the traffic."
