The scheduled examination for recruiting talathis (revenue department employees) in Maharashtra on Monday faced a delay due to technical glitches, leading the opposition Congress to strongly condemn the state government's handling of the situation.
Vijay Wadettiwar, the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra assembly, criticized the state government's "irresponsible behavior" and emphasized that such actions cannot be accepted. He expressed concern that the government's mismanagement could lead candidates to become frustrated and even take drastic measures.
A statement issued by TCS, responsible for conducting the exam, explained, "According to the technical team, a central hardware issue has impacted the exam start time in all the exam centers for the Talathi recruitment exam 2023 today."
Wadettiwar pointed out that the state government should have established examination centers in every district, instead of only four centers, which compelled candidates to travel long distances for the exam. He highlighted the distress experienced by candidates who had invested significant effort and endured sleepless nights, only to discover that their exam was put on hold on the morning of the test.

He emphasized that the state government's irresponsible behavior cannot be tolerated. He warned that if a candidate were to become desperate and take extreme measures, the state government would bear responsibility. Wadettiwar criticized the government for failing to provide an alternative solution for conducting the exam.
Wadettiwar also criticized the state government for charging an exam fee of Rs 1,000 per candidate. He urged the government to consider the plight of the candidates and suggested that if the talathi recruitment exam is rescheduled, the exam fee should not be charged again.
