A 45-year-old employee of the Railways was found dead in his house in Maharashtra's Thane district on Sunday, police said, reported the PTI.
The victim's body was found hanging from the ceiling in a highly decomposed state at his house in Kolsewadi locality of Kalyan town in the afternoon, an official said, according to the PTI.
The deceased was employed as a loco pilot on the suburban railway network and lived alone, he said.
The man's neighbours alerted the police after foul smell started emanating from the house and they didn't see him in the last few days, the official told the PTI.

The police team entered the house and found the body hanging from the ceiling, he said, adding that an accidental death report has been registered and the cause of death is being probed.
Meanwhile, in an another incident, a 47-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the 18th floor of a high-rise building in the eastern suburb of Bhandup here on Sunday, police said, according to the PTI.
The victim Reena Solanki was suffering from some ailments since the last three months and was mentally disturbed because of it, an official from Bhandup police station said, reported the PTI.
The incident took place at 22-storeyed Triveni Sangam housing society in the morning, when the woman stood on a chair and jumped out from the window of the 18th floor apartment, he said.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead, the official said.
Based on preliminary information, an accidental death report has been registered and further investigation is underway, he added.
