Maharashtra: In five months, Mrityunjay Doot save over 400 lives

The Mrityunjay Doot appointed by the Highway Police are truly becoming angels for those injured in accidents on the state highways. Due to their prompt help, 434 lives have been saved in the past five months. Their actions have also brought down the number of deaths in road accidents as treatment is provided during the golden hour after the accident.

The State Highway Police appointed Mrityunjay Doot for immediate treatment to the people injured in accidents on national and state highways. After the accident, Mrityunjay Doot immediately reach the spot and give first aid to the injured and take them to hospital.

According to the State Highway Police, there were 275 accidents from March 1 to July 31 in 2021, in which a total of 500 people were injured. Out of these 500 people, 434 people have been saved thanks to the actions of Mrityunjay Doot. At least 582 Mrityunjay Doot are active in Thane region where there were 113 accidents in the mentioned period. In these accidents 202 people were injured, out of which 163 were saved by Mrityunjay Doot.

Mrityunjay Doot in Pune region have saved the lives of 182 people. There were 89 accidents in the Pune region in which 187 people were injured. At least 72 people were injured in 52 accidents in Raigad. The lives of 58 people have been saved by the Mrityunjay Doot.

At least 595 Mrityunjay Doot are appointed in Nagpur region and 707 are in Aurangabad region. There were 13 accidents in Nagpur in which 26 people were injured. Mrityunjay Doot saved the lives of 20 of these people. There were 8 accidents in Aurangabad in which Mrityunjay Doot saved the lives of 11 people.

Police speak

State Highway Police ADG Bhushan Upadhyay told mid-day, "So far 5,071 Mrityunjay Doot have been appointed, and they are working to save the lives of the injured people. I appeal to people to become Mrityunjay Doot to save the lives of the people. I also appeal to people not to drive too fast on the highways."

Employees of malls, petrol pumps, dhabas, hotels on national and state highways and villagers are recruited as Mrityunjay Doot.
