Amid unconfirmed reports that the COVID-19 curbs will be lifted completely by this weekend or early next week, the state government hadn't come to any decision by Friday night. However, the government has began an exercise to study the situation, based on which the remaining restrictions could be lifted partially or entirely.

Chief secy reviewed ground situation on Friday

Chief secretary Debashish Chakrabarty reviewed the ground situation on Friday, at a senior officers' meeting. The Centre has asked states to relax/lift the curbs citing the receding number of cases.

Sources said the COVID Task Force recommendations will be taken into consideration by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after the force and disaster management authority meet next week.

Currently, entertainment, hospitality, recreation and beauty/life style service establishments are allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity. Some relaxations are in force only in the districts where vaccination is beyond 90 per cent (first dose) and 70 per cent (both doses).
