All schools in Maharashtra will reopen from December 1 as the state task force and the Covid-19 task force have given the go-ahead for the move. The announcement was made by Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad.
The minister took to Twitter and wrote, "After discussing with the Chief Minister, the cabinet and paediatric task force, the state cabinet has decided to re-open schools from Std 1st to 4th in rural areas and Std 1st to 7th in urban areas from the 1st of December. We are committed to the safe resumption of schools."

She also thanked schools and teachers and stressed on observing Covid-19 protocols. The announcement regarding updated SOPs would be made soon.
With the number of Covid-19 cases decreasing in recent times, certain secondary standards have already opened and some international schools are also functioning in Maharashtra.
