Maharashtra cabinet minister Eknath Shinde tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
Announcing on Twitter, he said, "I have tested positive for coronavirus and undergoing medical treatment under the supervision of doctors. With the blessings of all of you, I will overcome this soon I will be at your service. People who have come in contact with me in the last few days should be careful."

Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 8,087 cases with test positivity rate (TPR) at 16 per cent on Monday. The state registered 12,160 cases on Monday out of which 10,682 were reported in the MMR including Mumbai. There were 68 Omicron infections reported in the state, of which 40 are from Mumbai and 14 from Pune city.
