The Matunga police have registered a fresh charge against the promoters of the Mahadev betting app, Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, and Shubham Soni, along with 29 other people, for gambling and fraud totaling Rs 15,000 crores.
The case has been registered under various sections of the IPC and relevant sections of the IT Act, including cyber-terrorism sections. According to the police, they filed the case at the 30th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Court's request.
Prakash Bankar, a Matunga activist, had filed a private complaint with the court. Bankar in his complaint, stated that the promoters of the app and other accused broadcast advertisements on various social media platforms and encouraged people to bet on various games such as cricket, football, tennis, casino, teen patti, etc.
The complainant also claimed that the accused have made wrongful gains from the illegal betting business and invested huge money in hotels, properties, and other businesses in India and abroad. Some of the accused booked by police are based out of Dubai, London, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, West Bengal, and Gujarat.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is already probing a case of money laundering against Saurabh Chandrakar and his associates and have recently filed a chargesheet.
