Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the Mumbai North Central District Forum (MNCDF) has launched a Comprehensive Citizen Charter for parliamentarians across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
"The Mumbai North Central District Forum (MNCDF), renowned as Mumbai's leading Citizen Welfare and grievance redressal Forum, is delighted to announce the launch of its groundbreaking Citizen Charter. This initiative is designed to provide guidance to parliamentarians across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) in effectively addressing the pressing issues faced by citizens," stated the MNCDF.
As per the MNCDF, this initiative follows extensive research and discussions with stakeholders from various sectors, including professionals, youth, activists, and proactive citizens. It aligns with the principles outlined in Article 246 of the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India, which delineates the distribution of legislative powers between the Union and state governments.
The Citizen Charter serves as a comprehensive roadmap for parliamentarians, outlining the key concerns and priorities identified through a citizen participatory process.

"The charter consists of demands regarding Fresh Policies, Sustainable Development, Climate Mitigation, updating archaic laws, fulfilling citizen needs, and other pressing issues. It encapsulates the diverse needs and aspirations of the MMR's residents, reflecting their voices and experiences. Through this initiative, the MNCDF aims to foster greater accountability, transparency, and responsiveness in governance, ensuring that parliamentarians prioritize the welfare and interests of their constituents. The Citizen Charter covers a wide range of issues, as mentioned above," said the MNCDF.
Advocate Trivankumar Karnani, Founder of the MNCDF Citizen Welfare Forum, said, "The launch of the Citizen Charter marks a significant milestone in our efforts to empower citizens and strengthen democratic governance in the MMR. By providing parliamentarians with a clear understanding of the needs and priorities of their constituents, we aim to catalyze positive change and inclusive development across the region. Additionally, we aspire to foster open dialogue between citizens and MP candidates to bring about positive change."
The development of the Citizen Charter involved extensive collaboration with local communities, experts, and stakeholders, ensuring that it reflects the diverse perspectives and aspirations of the people of MMR. "It serves as a living document that will be continuously updated and refined based on feedback from citizens and ongoing dialogue with elected representatives," said the MNCDF ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
"Parliamentarians are encouraged to embrace the Citizen Charter as a guiding framework for their legislative and policy-making endeavors, prioritizing the collective well-being and prosperity of the MMR's residents," emphasised the MNCDF in the statement.
