Screengrab shows the leopard chasing the cat
Aarey Milk Colony locals were taken by surprise on Wednesday when a video of a leopard chasing a cat went viral. The video was from the footage of a CCTV camera installed on the premises of a temple in Aarey and it was widely circulated on WhatsApp groups.
In the video a white cat is seen roaming in the temple premises when suddenly out of nowhere the leopard climbs onto a wall and walks towards the cat. For a second, they look at each other and then the cat starts running and the leopard chases it. What exactly happened to the cat is still a mystery.
Wasim Athaniya, a member of the team conducting camera-trapping in Aarey, said, "I saw the video. It was a rare thing to witness and so many people on WhatsApp groups were surprised as they thought leopards do not attack stray cats. I told them that leopards do eat stray cats because for them they are just like any other prey."
